What is the most reliable used mini van?

The most reliable used mini van would be a late model Japanese van. The newer the better.

under twenty is going to be the 2009 Toyota Sienna-
Fuel efficient, reliable, and presumable inexpensive to keep, and a minivan. Does not compute. All of the Japanese minivans use the same AISAN automatic transmission, so all are prone to the same weakness. Transmissions fail prematurely, and are not an inexpensive repair. The front struts are also quite dear. On the Toyota Sienna, if not the others, the tires are very expensive and wear quickly. There is no way around it because of the tires specified for the van. The G.M. minivans are a pain, what with the frequency of intake manifold gasket failures. The newer Chrysler product vans seem to be pretty good although transmissions are also the weak point. The Kia and Hyundai minivans seem to be pretty good value for the money, and no worse for repairs than any other. They also tend to cost less to purchase, too. One thing to consider with the 3 row vans of all sorts. When the 3rd row is in use there is very little cargo room. My boss' wife gave up on minivans for that very reason. Her GMC Envoy EXT gets the same gas mileage as her minivan did, and has a LOT more room in it. Being based on a truck platform, it is also a more robust design. Maybe not quite as comfortable as the van unloaded, but a LOT more secure when full of people and cargo. Front wheel drive vans are very easy to over load.
