put in a 10 bolt posi out of a newer camaro or trans am with 3:73 gears or 4:11 if you have overdrive. that is what i would do. it is a reletively cheap option compared to buying an aftermarket housing and differential.
I would find a GM 12 bolt to put in it. The Stock 10 bolts in the Camaro just don't hold up to the power. In my opinion it would be a waste of money to put another 10 bolt into it.
An excellent option for you is to swap out the original 10bolt with a Ford 9" modified by Moser Engineering. They make the axle housing so that it bolts directly into the 3rd Gens and Summit Racing sells them. The Ford 9" is a very strong axle and has tons of after-market parts that will work in the Camaro.
I agree the Moser 9" is a strong swap, but it can get pricey really quick. I guess you could look at it this way: The 9" won't break, but everything else will LOL.
the 12 bolt would be a good option, but a 12 bolt never came in a camaro so yo would have to weld up all of the mounts.
man up buy a 12 bolt moser they direct bolt in and come with what ever gears you want and posi
i have an 02 ss rear end in my 89 with a 600 horse 355 and a built 700 r4 tsust me go with an aftermarket there pricey but they work well 10 bolts are trash
unless you're drag racing this car just rebuild the rear you have now .
