If I had a B service conducted on my vehicle why would the shop not inspect the battery?

Question type: General

Before moving out of the state of VA. I took my
350 in for a B service. A couple of days later the
battery was weak, on the second attempt the car
finally started. I had a mechanic check it out to
find out the battery was not holding a charge. How
could this have been missed during the service? It
is included on the things to check right at least
that's what the list says. E-Class 350

If they are working they do not take it out to perform a load test on it, it was working. Since batteries are replaced after failure, few are replaced before failure occurs. A bad cell happens when corrosion reaches the lead plates which leads to a failure, if the corrosion has not reached the lead plates the battery will function as normal, and since batteries are not clear, one cannot see when failure will occur, I will say if it has caps on top, they may have added water to it. Other than that it was working, so it passed without testing farther.
