i have a 1989 chevy van it shut off with no oil in it . when i added oil in it , it still would not start. i need to know why

That does not make sense,but check the oil for water and check anti-freeze for oil. If you find oil or water in ether. You got a blown head gasket. Is it smoking?

was it knocking when it shut off and will it roll over when you try to start it, if it wont roll over with starter motor may be locked up
