My chevy cobalt has started acting as if it wants to cut off and now it lunges forward when i am pulling off from a complete stop. That gives, yes now the engine light is on too

Question type: General

I had my oil changed two weeks ago, and I noticed that the service person had wasted
oil on my spark plugs.  I had it replace and it was running fine.  Now, a few days ago.
My car started acting as if it wasn't getting gas and it will lunge forward really fast
when I pull off from a stop light.  The engine light has now come on and it blinks, but
mainly it is on.  I have did, what a person told me at my local auto supply place, I
poured in a gas treatment and filled my tank yesterday, but it is still doing it right now.
Does it take a while.  I don't want to be doing more damage.  This is my only
transportation and I really can't afford a new car.  But, I don't want to be damaging
parts either by continuing driving it.  Any suggestions, ANYONE, PLEASE

I'm sure you don't need a new car, but all cars need some maintenance from time to time, and it could be something quite minor. Find a reputable repair shop and have them do some diagnostics. It will cost a few dollars but will likely isolate the problem and get you on the road again. The main thing is don't start spending money replacing random parts until you have a pretty good idea what is actually wrong. Good luck.
