You could drop in a inline five cylinder truck engine. The L52 (also called Vortec 3500), is a straight-5 truck engine. It displaces 3.5 liter. It was the other, larger engine offered.

I would think that a V6 would be shorter than a in line five.

It is probably do-able, there is already a factory 5.3 V8, and V8 swaps have been done before the factory version - check out 355nation dot com, various threads - V6 is smaller/shorter block then v8 so mounts and cooling would be differnt and the pcm and wiring would need to be figured out.

If the truck had a v-6 offered, then yes. Get the model offered that way your motor mount holes are already there. You need to check if the transmission will bold right up or if you need to either get an adapter or new tranny. Also check if the radiator will handle the v-6 or if a different one is needed. If so, try the junk yards but get it cleaned out before instillation.

They only offer a 4 cylinder 2.8 and a inline 5 cylinder 3.5 for this model.. i know tranny, motor mounts, wiring harness, radiator, everything like that will need to be changed ..not lookin to put the V8 into it...just a V6 will do what i wanna do..pull medium sized boat an maybe a trailer from time to time

2.8 is a lot of motor, even if for a truck...change it if you will, but seems suitable for a pickup with no haulin' to do for the day!

I personally think you would be better off just trading it for a different truck, unless you are going to do all the swap yourself and already have a spare donor truck ESP just to swap to a 6. It's probably more cost effective to just trade it in for the model you want. IMO I could go v8 for more power!!!

It never came with a v-6. It did come with the 5 cylinder that does produce a good amount of power like a v6. THere was also a 5.3 offered that would be a great swap. It has lots of power and mpg's are still good. Any swap is costly and wont be simple

You could drop a 5.3 in there and i would if i was you.on the count i just did the timing on my 3.5 and what a nightmare it was never again im a huge chevy fan but whats going on under the hood of the truck is down right mind blowing good truck except for timing has to be chamged every 150.000 depending if u dont change it or not i would not put a v6 in it go for the 5.3 mounts and all wiring then your truck will be a one of a kind ss colorado littpe but beast that is my thoughts on this truck
