1993 Chevy Silverado z71 350 motor - Update

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey all, thank you for all the previous replies, after doing some more checking, I noticed that on my exhaust pipe where it connects to the passenger side manifold, one of the 3 springs on the studs is broken, and the two brackets that squeeze together there is a gap now between the two brackets now that the spring is busted. How easy would it be to get that stud out and replace it? or any idea what it would cost to get the exhaust shop to replace all the studs? I have the donut ring but I just need at least the one stud/spring replaced, any ideas on $$ for something smallish like that? Thanks in advance guy, I appreciate it :)

local auto parts store should carry the stud and spring. A set of "easy outs" would be the trick to removing the stud.

that is a really simple job, an exhaust shop would not charge you much at all, you just have to go and have them give you an estimate, being ur truck is a 93 will help because its alot easier to access the manifolds

being a 93 it might also just be as easy taking it to the shop rather than doing it your self.. 93=more likely to be rusted to place.. if you dont wanna spend the money u can have fun doing it your self.. i can talk from experience when i say its no picnic.. can be a pain in the ass.

i recomend letting a exhaust shop do it ,as they will have the right equiment to do the job,if you try doing it yourself, may end up breaking other studs.

if there is a childs exhaust store in the area then they should be able to help you. the local one down where i'm at has been amazingly helpful for me.

you would b better to buy a new exaust system instead of replacing it piece by piece itll save you money in the long run they are not tht exspensive maybe 300 for the whole system
