how do I clear "service engine soon" light on dash after making repairs recommended by chevy so my 2001 Silverado will pass smog

Asked by Espinola Mar 28, 2014 at 03:48 PM about the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck would not pass smog.  Chevy dealer stated it needed a new Carbon Canister and
thermostat.  I have replaced both and do not know how to reset computer to clear "
service engine soon' light

Two ways to do it. Take it to an auto parts store where they will let you borrow an OBD-II Scanner and clear the codes that way. OR. Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.

Leave the battery disconnected for at least 35 minutes, to allow the computer to reset itself.

Ponga atención en todo el sistema de aire, puede tener una fuga por ahí.
