how far can you bore the 4.8 block?

looks like the bores are thick and the block is cast iron so it can be bored not
needing sleaves. how thick are those cylinder walls?

Not sure on how thick the cylinder walls are but you can go up to .040 in diameter over and be safe. Try not to go over .030 over.
If it is a thin wall casting going too large on the bore will result in overheating problems. This was a problem way back when on Ford small blocks. A good machine shop should be able to tell you how far is safe.
