Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2011 Dodge Grand caravan. When I turn the key the motor will turn
over but will not start until the 3rd or 4th time I try it. Then if I dont give it the
gas it will cut off. After that it runs like a champ ( once started ).I thinking
maybe fuel pump or TIPM. i have put gume out and High octane fuel tank.
Has 100,000 miles on it

To test for a fuel pump issue, you will need to install a gauge in the fuel rail and read the pressure while you are attempting to start the van.... http://verticalvisions.com/TIPM_solutions.php

I have had the identical problem with a 2008 and a 2011 Grand Caravan.

I have the exact same problem. My dealer charged me for a new starter, ignition switch and TIPM over a few weeks and I STILL have the problem. Could it be my remote starter causing it? The remote starter was not installed by my Dealer.

I have the same problem with my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan Crew. It all started last year where it wouldn't start, after several attempts, and I had a brand new starter put in late last Fall. Then this past April it started doing it again, by not starting, and it only did it once in a while, and now it is doing it more often. I had it towed to a Dodge/Chrysler Dealer, and it actually started because it could not start this morning. I find it hard to believe that the starter goes out that quickly.

Im so late to this thread but was having this problem and found a temporary solution and i hope it can help!!!! It cost me $9.00 but may be free to you if you have some 14awg wire sitting around. Theres a defect in 2011 Dodge TIPMs. The fuel pump relay goes out inside the TIPM and you have to fix it. New TIPM $1000 refurb $350. Theres also an external fuel pump relay available that you can solder into the harness. The latter is my plan on payday. For now, with 14 awg wire, I've wired the back leg of the fuel pump relay fuse to the rear outlets. Now the fuel pump kicks on when the key is turned allowing the vehicle to start!!!

I had the TIPM replaced. Would the new one have the same defect?

Honestly if it's a factory TIPM for the same year its possible. I am not a mechanic myself. So take anything i say with a grain of salt. https://www.verticalvisions.com/tipm-fuel-relay- solutions.html Info i found here helped me quite a bit.
