cold starts

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 01 durango 4.7 engine. on cold mornings it is hard to start (acts lack of fuel). After it starts, it won't idle until the engine warms up.It also threw a 1494 code. Are these two related and where do I start? I have already checked the vac lines to the LDP.

Start by checking your battery, take the connectors of and clean the with for example wire brush or sandpaper both on the wire connection and on the battery, it is also good to apply Vaseline or grease over the connector´s after you put the back on the battery to seal them. If you can open the battery check the water level it is supposed to flow over the metal plates in there. If this does not fix your idle in about 24 to 36 hours, which it could take to fully recharge the battery, have your batter load tested and check if the alternator is producing over 14 volts as it should. For code 1494 here is what it says on the Chrysler code side: P1494 (M) Leak Detection Pump Sw or Mechanical Fault Incorrect input state detected for the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) pressure switch.
