Check your oil level. I have a 98 Dakota with the 5.2L Magnum V8 and this has happened to me a few times - these engines tend to burn oil and its likely you're a quart low.

Dodge had a big problem with oil pumps going out on these. My Dakota would momentarily lose oil pressure after getting off the highway. (Gauge went to zero, light came on) Dealer put 5 sending units in it before they finally would admit to problem. By the time they fixed it, they also had to replace 2 main bearings.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango with a 5.9l Magnum. I've rebuilt and I've changed the oil pump and sending unit and tried the manual tack and still have a problem with oil pressure.
