Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 it's
got the 360 in it I went out to start it
tonight and it was dead so I jumped
it and go it some charge went to turn
it over and the only way it would stay
running if I would keep my foot on
the gas if I took it off it would
instantly shut off. So I went inside
came back out and the batter was
dead again any ideas what this could
be?

Dodge vehicles don't like to idle properly after the battery is disconnected until they run for a little while and the computer can relearn. With the battery dead it could have the same effect. It sounds like you need to let it run for a bit and it should start to idle again like it used to. That would be my first thought.

So just jump it again and keep my foot on the gas for a while and then let off after a bit and it should stay running?

But the batter keeps dying too by its self I turn all my lights and everything off and it dies no matter what.

Vwags is right, and that applies to a lot of cars, I put a battery in my Toyota and it ran like crap for about 10 miles, then suddenly purred like it always did. But you may have a parasitic drain, or corroded battery terminals, or just plain bad battery. If it 4 or 5 years old, that's about the life span of even a good battery

Yes keep your foot on the gas to keep it running but if the battery keeps dieing and you did not leave any lights on then obviously you have another problem. First thing you need to know the battery is good and then go from there. Get it charged and checked.
