What engine do you have in your truck?
if you have the 4.7 L they have problems . i own a 02 ram and it has a blown motor and it has been 2 and a half years looking for a new motor
Don't know where you're located but when I was at Advance I got a bunch of used engines through Advance Salvage. You might want to check there if you have a store handy. You could also check their website, www.advanceautoparts.com and see if something comes up there. Good Luck!
Here's a little more info I dug up: http://www.ehow.com/about_5571443_dodge-engine-problems.html
And: http://accurateengines.com/remanufactured-engines/dodge/47-engine/
thanks for the info mike it came in helpful.

Yea I actually have a 04 with the 4.7 motor and I had to replace mine last year. I got it from a company in Maryland and they sent me a completely rebuilt one that they claim to have fixed a lot of the factory defects with that motor. It wasnt bad for price either because they ship and pick up the core within so many miles from them for free.
thanks for the help but i live in ont. canada it would cost a fortune to send a motor here.
John, have you checked into reman engines from Performance Improvements or Canadian Tire? Bet either one can help with a Canadian source and take the shipping issue out of the equation.
Actually the hemi has been a good engine overall. Have you resolved the problem as yet?
Yes , my husband has the same problem going on with his truck.
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 engine I have 180945 on the engine and the timing chain started to slap so I took it apart and found the plastic guides broken I bought a new timing kit and replaced it .It wasn't to hard to replace just follow the instructions in the repair manual
