Question type: Maintenance & Repair

after putting on cold air unit was driving and engine light and a red light on bottom right of gauges came on. the truck then bogs down when you try and give it gas and then will just stop accelerating the truck is still running if you step on gas no response just idles no tack nothing.i shut off truck and restart and it resets something and runs fine but engine light stays on had diagnostic done was told it is the 02 sensor then they said i need to clean throttle body. i did this and problem still happens especially in colder weather somebody mentioned might need a chip because of better air flow can't afford a lot of repair bills thinking about putting back to stock but would rather keep horsepower and gas mileage any thoughts????

Risks-Aftermarket cold air intakes can pose a risk of damage to the vehicle. Hydrolock - The intake opening may be closer to the street than an original- equipment air intake, and more likely to introduce water into the engine when fording streams or flooded roads. Noise - Stock air filtration systems usually include resonator-based muffling tubes. Removing them reduces pumping losses but increases noise.

put it back....would be my advise...the troubles seem to outweigh the benefits...personally is the first time I've investigated them and can understand Why they are not as popular~

do not listen to the above. I have installed hundreds of intakes in a professional shop. if it is a brand name kit for your truck you should not have any problems with it or need to put a chip on the truck--you aren't changing airflow that much. something wasn't installed correctly.
