AC temperature

Asked by sdear Nov 15, 2014 at 02:20 PM about the Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We bought a new Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab.  The AC seemed to work fine the first 1000 miles.  It now has 3000 miles on it, and the AC seems cool but not cold like it should be.  They replaced some "wire" , then took it back and they replaced a cooling line.  We live in Florida so AC is used a lot.   Today it's 75 out, turn the ac on, and it's cool, but barely cold in my opinion.  They checked it again, and said it's blowing "52" out of the vent, but seems to me it should be blowing colder?  Any suggestions?   They said they added Freon when they changed the ac line.

I had the same problem and every MECHANIC told me it was a very expensive job. Of course! However, a mechanic in the family replaced a very small $25.00 fan that blows on a cooling coil that looks like a small radiator right in front of the engine on the drivers side that wound up taking care of the COOL air and made it COLD air! Good luck and God Bless.

I am having the same problem with my truck. In idle stays in 55 degrees. But if I accelerate it can go down to 48 degrees. Did you finally fix your problem? Iknow my compressor is working, i have enough r 134 a in the system. The condensor fan is working. I dont know what else to do.

I honestly can't remember exactly what they did to fix it, but they did the above fix then did something in the dash, and hasn't been a problem since
