powertrain control module

Question type: General

Truck would turn over but not start, also notice that the gas gauge was not moving even
when turn key on, would not move at all. took to shop and they said it was the pcm and
quoted me a price of 1550.00 to fix it is this a high price? Thanks for your wisdom.

Whew, sounds high to me, but they make a 100 bucks an hour. I would check the price of a PCM for your vehicle, then research if they need to be programmed, either way you could save a bundle unplugging yours and plugging in a new one even if they just have to program it. (on most cars and trucks just the ECM needs to be programmed or the chip removed from the old and put in the new) look it up.
