Crankshaft removal

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500
5.9 360 gas 4x4 can you pull the
crankshaft out without having to
take the motor out I was told that
you can remove the crankshaft
and put a new crankshaft in
without having to pull the motor
any advice

I have a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 360 gas 4x4 sport can you change the crankshaft out with the motor still being in the truck I was told you can leave the motor in the truck and take the crankshaft out and put a new crankshaft in with your rods and Mains any advice

I am not really familiar with this truck but to do all the engine work while in the truck, you will have to drop the engine's oil pan. On most 4x4's that's not possible because of the front axle being in the way. I could be wrong, so take a look.
If you can get the oil pan off and not have the crossmember in the way you could, not sure if you really save yourself that much hassle having to work underneath the vehicle upside down, vs pulling the motor. Try any of the dedicated Ram forums on the innerwebz they may have members who've done this and can advise.
