please. can anyone tell me the difference between the usual mercedes engines & the compressor ones ?

The Kompressor series (not compressor) AMG engines are supercharged. As you may know, the new AMG engines are not supercharged but rather use larger displacment.

It means supercharged, NOT turbocharged. There is a difference.

Yes, the Kompressor is Supercharged. The 4 cylinders in a 230 K, for example run as 6 when needed and 4 in normal driving conditions.

Agree with everyone that says kompressor is supercharged, its not turbo charged it has a belt to run it

i think the kompressor engines are supercharged im not to sure so dont quote me on it :-)

the Kompressors are supercharged. the regular ones are naturally aspirated.

IF - you are referring to technical differences - they are enormous - ECU(engine managment system) injectors at least on european versions(federal ones are reduced in more than one aspect) - camshafts - valvegear materials - the Kompressor(which is the german word for supercharger) - exhaust system(the complete one due to more pressure)... and a lot of other minor items... hope this helps and please do feel free to ask if anything else i can assist you with - ken
