I have a 1969 Munice 4 speed from a Corvette sitting in my garage. It has had all the gears replaced a year before I put a new 5 speed in my car. Less that 300 miles on the rebuild. Check on a total rebui9ld cost before doing anything to keep it original. I also recommend checking out the 5 or 6 speed transmissions out there, aka tremac etc, as they have lower first and second gears, and an over drive for great mileage. Bolts right in and no modifications. Comes with clutch parts needed and shorter drive shaft. Worth a look.

Speedo drive on my tranny is on the driver's side in the rear. To fix the internal gear to the speedo, you have to remove the entire tranny from the case to get to it.
