Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 5.3 v6 rear
wheel drive.  The low oil pressure goauge
light is coming on when the engine temp
gets to 200 degrees. When first started it is

Thanks for reply about to replace the gauge. Now the filter is the it behind the oil pressure switch or is it below the oil pressure switch?

They did not start putting in that screen until 2007. Some of the 5.3L engines do have a oil pressure issue, which ends up being the oil pump itself. I believe it is in the front of the engine, and is a gear driven oil pump. As tennisshoes suggests, check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to verify oil pressure. May be just the Oil Pressure Sending Unit itself.
