Power Rear Hatch Won't Latch
The power rear hatch has failed to latch twice in ours since it was new last fall. It goes down but then right back up. Must be closed manually and then it works fine. Anybody else have this problem with theirs?

This was happening more frequently as of late so I took it to the dealer. Service manager found one of the rubber bumpers missing. Ordered new ones, installed and problem all but gone. Has only happened once since in last two months.
Latch has gone bad, should still be under warintie, dealer should replace it,if bought new.
this can be a regular issue. check fuel pressure pump. http://ford-edge.net/2011-pictures/
Fuel pump for the rear hatch?
make sure nothing is blocking the hatch clear everywhere mine did it because I ha something in way of sensors...worth a try..
Thanks, CyndiLou, yes, that was the first place I looked. Even checked trim fit and found nothing. There was a rubber bumper donut missing and dealer replaced both of them and the problem has now all but gone away. Still now and then but only a couple of times/year. I can actually live with that as long as I don't put the garage door down on the hatch by accident!
Ours is doing it too! it's a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium. Haven't had a chance to get it into the dealer yet. We are still under warranty. We had the throttle body go bad on it too. Left us stranded on the interstate!
Just experienced this problem on a 2018 Ford Edge SEL. Was leaving a parking garage when for some unknown reason, the rear hatch failed to latch properly and the hatch door raised. I was looking for exit turn directions and because the garage was somewhat dark, I failed to see the warning notice on the dash that the hatch was not properly locked. It finally raised to full upright and hit one of the low beams shattering the glass. There should be an audible alert when the hatch is not properly secured. Even better would be a sensor that automatically stops the door from raising. I am hoping the warranty will cover the repair.
This started today. The work around I did was to start the engine, close the tailgate with the panel button. Once shut, I turned the engine off and it stayed closed. Before doing this, I repeatedly tried to close it after clearing the area, including sweeping the area clean. Under warranty so I am taking it in on Monday. I have not tried to close it manually but will do so.

This happens on my 2020 Ford Edge ST, but only when the car is on an incline (like our steep driveway) with the front end pointed up. Everything works fine and normally when the car is on a flat surface. Any insight as to why. Email me at mobeydick@rocketmail.com
