In most cases it is better to let the shop get them. Just don't go to the dealer as they charge full price for parts.
It depends on the shop, but most want to get the parts..
It's better if shop gets the parts, this way they can't blame u if parts or labor fails prematurely plus they can get discounts in most cases
If it is standard replacement parts, let the shop get the parts and install them. If it is a specialty item, tell them where you would like the item to be sourced and then let them install. Most shops do not want you to walk in with parts in hand but they will source them from reputable businesses if given the opportunity to check them out. Be prepared to pay about 10-15% higher than the sources listed price to cover your shop's overhead.
