Question type: Car Customization

Would like wider tires, but dont want to loose the height on the wall, stock is 205 50 17, what should like upgrade to??

1 Answer

5,045

Basic conversion w/ same rim size is "plus 10, minus 5". That would convert to 215/45R17, but you would lose about 11mm in height. 225/45R15 would be very close in height (2.5mm shorter) but you have to be concerned w/ wheel width. 235/45R17 would increase height by about 6.5mm, but will definitely not work on OE wheels. Any tire retailer will be able to let you know what size tire fits what size wheel. Note: The further you vary from OE size, the more you negatively impact ride quality.
