If you google "Cayman induction noise" and you shall find info on the "2 stage induction system", the by product of which being the much sportier intake resonance during WOT conditions - kind of in tune with having a Cayman S in the first place.

In all honesty, I found the interior noise level in my Cayman S to be almost too quiet. I had installed a clear engine cover for a while which bordered on "too loud" only at wide open throttle. With the original engine cover and sound deadening in place, it's at least as quiet as comparable SPORTS cars. If you're looking for quiet, then try a Mercedes or Cadillac instead...
