Salvage title means the vehicle has already been declared a total loss. The value is now a lot lees than a clean title. Usually the car has been wrecked to the point where it's cheaper for the insurance company to pay the owner blue book value than having to pay for the repairs. Be careful when buying salvage title, have it inspected before you commit to buying it. It has to go through an official repair shop to inspect and certify breaks and lights.

It can also be more expensive to insure a salvage vehicle.
