Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer.
The shifter stopped working. The
cable was broken. My mechanic
replaced with a brand new one.
But now the vehicle still will not
go when they shift into reverse,
nuetral, or drive. He said the
transmission looks good and fluid
is clean. The indicators on dash
even light up when shifting into
park, reverse, nuetral, and drive
but the vehicle will not move?
Why?

Transfer case in the chevy causes this. Check the transfer case.

Did your mechanic also flush or change the transmission fluid? Flushing the transmission fluid on an older model is almost always the kiss of death! Believe it or not a worn transmission needs the dirt and junk in the transmission fluid to grab onto and continue to work. A fluid change on an older model is usually not good either, for the same reason! I'd suggest having a reputable transmission shop take a look at it. Hope that helps! Jim
