Buying from a private seller

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

So when buying from a private seller, how does the
process work? Is it just like buying from a
dealership? You hand over the check, sign stuff
and take the car?

Basically the same but there is less paper work. All you need from the seller is the car, signed title, bill of sale and in some states a current smog certificate. I would insist on the smog cert!

One last thought. Make sure you know what form of payment the seller will accept before you go there.

Hi did you find out more? Is there a way to finance? Or is it in cash full?
