OBD is On Board Diagnostic 1 or 2. Basically the computer systems going thru the ECM or Electric Control Module. Helps locate a possible issue (warning lights come on the dash) may or may not be more than the Check Engine Light showing. Sad to say but some units (Dodge and Chrysler esp) need all in one changed for them to work together. As far as the engine and transmission go, ask a local dismantler (aka Junk Yard) to see if their system will tell ya what will most likely or not work. They may have one in stock.

1994 and older is OBD I but 1996 and newer is OBD II, and 1995 could be either. So don't get a 95 model transmission. There's a metal tag on the side of your transmission. Take a picture of it and be sure the information on the tag matches the information on the replacement transmission's tag. If it doesn't, it won't work. Hope that helps! Jim
