Gas pouring out of evap box?? after new fuel pump install

Asked by Guru9D8F2D Nov 12, 2020 at 07:09 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the fuel pump on my 2001 s10 v6.
It ran fine for about 15 minutes then it died
suddenly. I restarted it and got out while it
was running and fuel was coming out quickly
from I think a e- vap box directly above the
center of the rearend. What did I do wrong? It
still was leaking after I shut the engine off, so
I loosened up the gas cap and it stopped
leaking immediately. There was alot of
pressure when I loosened up the gas cap.

Sounds like you have one of the fuel lines and the EVAP system line mixed up. Recheck your work. You have a fuel line going to the engine, a fuel return line coming from the engine back to the gas tank, and a EVAP system fuel vapor line. Hope that helps! Jim
