What taxes need to be paid when buying through cargurus? is it simply the
state where the car will be registered?

You will pay taxes when you purchase and or register the vehicle at the dealer, and or your states DMV office if you purchase privately. Cargurus does not collect sales tax.
If buying outside of your home State you will pay sales tax to your home State when you register the vehicle. You will not pay sales tax at the time of purchase. Hope that helps! Jim
