Most wheels are an "alloy" & different metals mixed together with aluminum to make them stronger & forged for darker color. Pure aluminum would corrode too fast and have a dull appearance unless always maintained & polished. Just like the term "mag wheels" aren't magnesium. 40yrs. of working on Boeing jets taught me all about aluminum! The aluminum numbers such as 2024 T-3 indicates the alloy's used & the hardness, 6061 T-6 being the hardest, see?
