Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1984 Mustang GT w/ a 5.0 CFI.  I want to put a performance cam in it , also rebuild the heads along with porting and polishing and put on some headers.I would like to know if it would be possible to put in a performance cam with the CFI system?

Best to go with an intake, heads, & cam / lifter "package" like from Eldelbrock. They will take all the guess work out of your mod. By the time you do your cyl heads separate, you'll find it cheaper & more air flow from ones already professionally done. It takes hundreds of hrs. to successfully port & polish heads. Plus pre-done heads will match everything up like valve guides, valve springs, 3 angle valve seats, etc. Match up your CFI base to a good aluminum intake. Your choice on tube headers, sometimes bigger isn't always better, A friend of mine used smaller dia, ! & 3/4" tube headers that scavenged exhaust out better, & with some "back pressure" than a 2" tube on a big block '69 Chevelle. A 5.0 engine is all about high (er) rev's, 7000+rpm's, keep that in mind when buying perf parts. What comes to mind is the hi-rev 302's Chevy & Ford. Big cubic inch engines rely on torque. JIMZ
