why can't I search nationwide?

You can, just click on the radius pull down menu. New cars are limited to 500 miles though so just pick a city near where you want to search.
that option is not highlighted/available??
same here - 100 miles is max you can tag!
still no answer to this? hate to be a conspiracy person but i always assume this is to hide saturated areas with cheap prices.
The explanation is simple. If you are searching for new cars a big radius will give you thousands and thousands of cars all priced pretty much the same. Just change your zip code if you want to search another city.
i want to search for a specific model nationwide - how can i do this?
I am trying to get the real answer to the question. Up until a few weeks ago, I could search for both new and used Corvette Z06 getting vehicles from around the county a d the prices were often vastly different. Now I only find a few with the used search and the new sear only brings up local dealerships or within a couple hundred miles. I am willing to travel anywhere to get a great deal and can choose more specifically any options I really want. So what is going on?
CarGurus! listen to what people are writing here. We want to have control over our search criteria! Stop imposing your will on the consumer! Allow open search options w/out limiting any of the search options!
Same problem here guess I'll go to other sites...Np
Same here and I can't even set a year range for a used tesla (field is there but not highlighted on mac, no hover over explanation either), so keep getting cars outside of my desired year range, finally have decided to deleted search as its giving me a lot of bad recommendations - seems bad for cargurus business model!
I guess I'm not using CarGurus anymore
Pissing me off as well.
I have the same question. Why can i only search within 100 miles?
I figured it out, first look for a new vehicle make and model, and pick 500 miles, then hit search, and the next page lets you change you pick nationwide and used.
What up! No fun ! Not being able to search which cars have done highest mileage!
It won't let me search nationwide anymore either!
Can’t search nationwide. So stupid. This is 2019 isn’t it?
Seriously. Allow Nationwide searches. You have the data, why are you restricting your users? Makes zero sense. Many people fly to buy a car.
It is possible, just not in one step. And they don't make it easy. If you're not able to select 'Nationwide' or even '500 Miles' on your initial search, try again once those results display. I tried it several times and sometimes the second refinement they let me search a wider area, including 'Nationwide'. Why this isn't a default setting, no idea. I guess they are "car gurus", not computer gurus.
I'm getting to the bottom of the 'No Nationwide' mystery. If your Make and Model selection will return more than X number of results, their search engine will step down to 500 or even 100 miles only- similar to how Craigslist limits car results to a maximum of 3,000.
Throw out my last answer. They don't limit the search based on "too many" results, but instead on various parameters, such as whether you select 'All Models' (but not every time); as well as the weight or "value" of one model over another-- in other words, it's nonsensical. For example, I tried to search on 'Ferrari, Model 308, Nationwide', and in the first search it returned zero '308' cars, but presented 500 Ferrari's of all models. Next I searched for 'Model, 360' and it showed 0 results nationwide. I re-ran my previous '308' search and it displayed 500 cars. Scrolling down to 'Trim', I selected '360' and '360 Spider'- now 27 cars suddenly popped up. Makes no sense, right? CarGurus is spending WAY too much time second-guessing what their customer is looking for. Meanwhile, sites like AutoTempest are eating their lunch (and dinner).
YOU did NOT get to the Bottom of anything. You simply told us about the limitation we are all complaining about already. Kinda like rubbing Salt into a Festering Wound. Getting to the Bottom of it would be something like - "WE figured out the issue and will have a [Search Nationwide Button] on the web page next week" - that would be Getting To The Bottom Of It - You did not Get To The Bottom Of It - the only thing you Got To The Bottom Of, was how to give the worst reply ever. Later dude. - I agree the the Site AutoTempest is easier and better. everyone - try AutoTempest
CarGurus searching SUCKS!!! Pure and simple. How hard is it to let the user do what they want. Morons!!
It blows, I have purchased a few cars in the previous years, and had them shipped to my house. I want to look for diesel trucks (not set on a brand or a model - so don't want to narrow that criteria), and the p.i.t.a system won't let me. Not using this site anymore.
Nationwide... hell I can only limited the years to 2020 and 2021. Sort of stupid to search for a used car that’s basically new
I have purchased 4 cars using National search and now it's gone, guess I need to find another site
The marketing person is their own job security, constantly messing up the app and having to fix it. Now there’s a random bug making nationwide search not work. There used to never be this many issues.
Why the F can I not search nationwide????

There's still no functionality to search nationwide? Wut?
Hey, guys I just found a fix for this exact issue. go to your Google settings, click privacy and security, third-party cookies, see all site data and permissions, once your in see all site data and permissions search for the Cargurus site click the trash bin icon to clear all your cookies log back in and you should be able to search nationwide. I don't know why this happens but hopefully, this fixes it as it worked for me GL.
On Microsoft Edge ... if Location is Blocked you can only search 500 miles. This is because you are not providing "your Location" to the webapp. To fix ... Select Settings > Cookies and site permission Find cargurus.com and toggle the Location to either "Ask before accessing (recommended" ... or just turn it on. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/location-and-privacy-in- microsoft-edge-31b5d154-0b1b-90ef-e389-7c7d4ffe7b04

Car gurus bring back nationwide search or be passed out by another site..
It's unacceptable that cargurus isn't even giving an official answer here. I won't use this site anymore, that'sis just a totally rude ineffective inappropriate way to run a business. You allow discord on your site that you totally ignore, shame on you.
