Purchasing A Used Mid-Sized 4x4, Seeking Any Opinions, Please!

Asked by Graham Feb 16, 2016 at 02:14 PM

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking for a used 4x4 (truck or SUV) that has a great, reliable reputation.
I do not care for frills on the inside, I just want something that always runs,
and always runs through any weather. I'd also like to stay under $3500.
Current obvious favorites include cherokees with the 6 cyl from the mid
90's, mid 90's tacomas, etc. I'd prefer to stay mid-sized and stay away from
V8's, and no long beds. Can you point me to something in my price range I
might've not thought of?

Stay away from jeeps nothing but problems, the Tacomas were a well produced car... Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, Nissan Titan, Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Under $3500 is really going to be a risk no matter what on the reliability end of things. If it is an option for you, I would recommend using the 3500 as a down payment towards something a little newer with a little warranty left. Better to make low monthly payments than have to come out of pocket for a blown head gasket after a few months!
