Which would be the best, for a first time
car buyer? BMW 3 series (2006 +) or Land
Rover LR3(2008) **buying used**

Both the BMW and the Land Rover would be very expensive to maintain. Parts and repair prices can be extremely high. The Land Rover would be the worst of those 2. I would recommend a first time buyer get something more reliable such as Lexus, Acura, Toyota or Honda. Whatever you decide look for a vehicle with low miles and a good service history. A well maintained vehicle will last longer and should be cheaper to maintain.
