I agree... Toyota Corolla would be perfect... they are great. cars for a teenager...

Keep it simple... don't look at one of the sports cars that Toyota makes.... Even an old Prius would be fantastic... I've seen 2001 Toyota Prius cars still on​ the road and working fine.... I had a Honda Accord from the mid 90s, BUT, I would not recommend it today... Something in the last decade went terribly wrong at HONDA.. if you were looking at a brand new HONDA, I might have another opinion, but, a used one..nah, get the Toyota... You can't make a bad decision with that.... Forget Nissan... They're not consistent....

A suv that has flown under the radar for years is the Suzuki XL7. It's has a 5 star crash rating in all categories and is reliable regardless of it's quite reputation. Do your research you will find this true and your daughters will love it, much more than a Corolla I was young once!

15 MPG City and 18 MPG highway is lousy...

In case you didn't know, fuel is the MOST Expensive thing you put in a vehicle..... think about it and you'll see I'm right...

No sir the most expensive thing is hospital bills and funerals...think about it

By the way, besides being inexpensive to maintain, and fuel, the Toyota Corolla is one of the most long lasting nameplates in car history.... dates back over 40 years..... that says a lot about the integrity of the car...

The Corolla came out in 1966... that's 51 years ago.... Compare this with Chysler who has to run, hide and change the names of turkeys every few years..... I think that Toyota knows what it takes to make a car and improve on it with each generation...the Corolla is in the 10th generation or so currently.... They're​ hard to beat....

And, Lexus, the upscale division of Toyota continues to be one of the best engineered cars in the world for a production automobile...

An excerpt from one of the reviews on the Suzuki XL 7- disgusting, "Once inside the XL-7, however, it becomes readily apparent why Suzuki can afford to sell its vehicle for less money. If you want your daughter to have a great little car to go from point A to Point B without high insurance premiums or repairs get the Corolla.... Plain and simple... Let us know what you think....

VDrive- NO, I don't work for Toyota... your answer about health care costs had absolutely NOTHING do add to this conversation.

As a matter of fact, I have a Toyota Prius and a Subaru Outback...both great cars, however, the Corolla is less expensive, easier on fuel than the Suzuki XL and easier to find people to work on them... Corolla is everywhere... And so are parts....

It's all about finding the right fit for the intended purpose...My Subaru will do things a lot of other cars cannot do, like go out on unmaintained roads... The AWD on the Subaru is really amazing and it has an extremely high ground clearance ... And, my Prius gets 45 MPG ..you can't do that in most cars.

Scion Tc might fit the bill, but check about insurance rates on that.

Chrysler 300 from about 2006 for that price range you can find one in good condition and they are sweet looking rides. Roomy also!
