My question about false advertising has disappeared.
My question about False Advertising has DISAPPERED! Hmmm. Does Cargurus have a vested interest in keeping dealers on their site, regardless of their tactics? I have PROOF!! PDF's of the ad AND the OFFER on site. The price went for $17,877 to $29,000! Why doesn't Car Gurus want this information?

CarGurus is a listing site. It is used by both dealers and private parties to sell vehicles. As such, I would imagine that they do not take sides in disputes between customers and dealers. The issue you have is with the dealer, not CarGurus. The dealer set their price on the site. If they refused to honor it in person, you can advise the CarGurus admins of this but don't expect them to kick a dealer off the site. 99% of all car dealers out there are extremely shady, regardless of what they say to the contrary. A better route would be to take your complaint to the Better Business Bureau if they are a member. If it is a new car dealer, complain to the manufacturer. They will put the heat on the dealer to make it right. Those are your best avenues should you wish to even pursue the issue.

As I advised you in your other post, I would refrain from publicly slandering a company. Can you prove they deleted it? Can you prove it was not against anything in their Terms of Service agreement? Have you even read, fully, the TOS agreement for this site? Not for nothing, but any false advertisement claim you would have would be against, again, the DEALER as they set the prices, not CG. You're hunting the wrong dog here, and you're liable to get bit if you continue to chase this avenue.

From the CG Terms of Use: Section 1: By using any Interactive Areas, you expressly agree not to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, edit, translate, publicly display, telecommunicate or perform, post, upload to, transmit, distribute, store, create derivative works from or otherwise publish throughout the World, in any media, now known or hereafter devised, on or through the Site any of the following: Any message, data, information, text, music, sound, photos, images, graphics, code, marks, logos or other content ("Content") that is unlawful, untrue, libelous, defamatory, slanderous, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate; I would think you're in violation of that. However: The information on vehicles provided in this service and on the Site is supplied by the seller or other third parties; CarGurus is not responsible for the accuracy of such information. CarGurus provides this service and the Site and all information and materials without conditions, representations or warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied. CarGurus is not a party to any transaction between vehicle buyers and sellers that originates from information found on the Site. You are CLEARLY in violation of that section. That is most likely why your thread was deleted. As stated before, CG DOES NOT step in to discuss issues between purchasers and dealers. Period.
Thanks, but it's not an error. You cannot buy a single car on their lot at the advertised price. We had cash on hand and wanted to leave with a car.
It wouldn't be so bad, but we spent our ENTIRE Saturday driving 2.5 hours each way to get this car. My husband works 72 hours a week doing physical labor. The advertised price was $17,877 and the in person price (even though we filled out application online) was $26,000 + 'processing' and taxes totaling $29,583. What other business is allowed to do this? Can you imagine going anywhere to buy something and having the price change by 60%??? I didn't think so.
Instead of bitching, whining, complaining and belly aching about a dealer move along to another vehicle. There are some dealers out there that are just crooked. You are expending way too much effort on complaining and not enough effort on researching, finding and buying.
I get your point, Bob, but if more people took dealers to task for gross misrepresentation, then we might not be having this conversation right now. Regarding time, I'm here at my computer researching cars right now, taking a minute here or there to reply. Not anywhere near as much time as I wasted on Saturday. Also, I don't waste time protesting nonsense, so there's that.
Posting dealer problems on this forum will do nothing. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or similar organization. Or better yet...park a car with a big sign on it that says this dealer is crooked or a cheat in front of their business. Going long distances to look for vehicles at sketchy car dealers can be a big disappointment. Perhaps call and verify the price before making the trip (sometimes this won't help either). Good luck with the search.

Bob, your clearly a representative of the website and should represent yourself as such.
A paid representative of this crummy site? That is pretty damned funny.
Hey, anybody out there selling a car that has encountered abusive trolling by a potential buyer thru Cargurus? Cussing, slandering trolling. I've had 2 in a row and seek to report them any way I can. But I can't find anywhere that Cargurus can or will step in and block or ban people like this. Anyone have experience or thoughts on this?
