Listing

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

You list an SUV in Madison, NC,
vin: 1GYS4FEJ9BR123399 with a
report of theft history.
The dealer claims to have no
knowledge of this.
Was this a typo in the listing, or
real?  If real, would you please list
the basis for the notification?
(Privately to my email, if you
must.)
I'm ready to buy, but not if there
is a title issue.  Any indication of
why this notice/warning was part
of the listing would be greatly
appreciated!

Is the theft current? When does it say it was? If it has changed hands since then with no problems it is safe. There's a way to check that but please email vehicletitleadvisor@gmail.com

I know nothing about it except what i saw in the Car Gurus listing. It could have been years ago. The car fax doesn't even mention it. That's why I was asking for more info. Where did Car Gurus hear about it??? If Car Gurus currently has no knowledge of it, why is it in the listing?

Sounds like a typo on cargurus end. But for peace of mind you can have a theft report pulled before you purchase it.
