How does CarGurus know I sold my car to charge me the $99 fee?

Was wondering the same thing. I put an ad up today for my truck and now I feel that may have been a mistake. I put the ad on Craigslist in a couple other sites as well and I feel like if I sell it anywhere even if not on CarGurus they may charge me the $99 fee to take the ad down. I really hope that's not the case. If I sell it on CarGurus I'll be happy to pay the $99 fee, but if I sell it somewhere else I don't think that would be fair to charge me.
Read the agreement you signed onto!
Thanks genius for absolutely nothing.
So you signed onto something that you did not read? Now that is smart!
Since your so knowledgeable and you obviously read it thoroughly, why don't you tell us the answer? Crickets.......
From the terms and conditions . Please note that the $99 fee will be charged only if you choose to finalize the sale through our partner Autopay. Listing your vehicle is free!
So you are just assuming there was some sort of sign up? That's probably why it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. First off while putting my truck pictures in and a description I was never asked for my name. I was never asked for a credit card or billing information for credit card such as my address. so in fact I never really signed up for anything either. What mine and the person who asked before me question was, how do you get billed $99 and how do they know when you sold your vehicle? and since you have absolutely no answers and no experience with the site, you should probably just quit assuming anybody signed up for anything.
Congrats you found us the answer! That would have been much appreciated from the start as I couldn't find it anywhere. but then again I don't have auto pay, don't even know what auto-pay is and have never signed up for auto-pay so thank you! So I guess the answer is something like this... If you list something on CarGurus and CarGurus finds you a buyer, you will then have to sign up with auto pay and pay the $99 fee.
@James why do you think we libs will scream or even disagree with that statement? Oh because thats what you have been brainwashed into believing.

Glad this was asked. Cargurus likely loses a lot of listings because of the $99 concern. "Please note that the $99 fee will be charged only if you choose to finalize the sale through our partner Autopay."
Question if I purchase a vehicle advertised by cargurus and find out later it had fire damage unknown and accident that was reported minor but then realized several parts had been replaced that where major not just door ding and there for made value much less what should one do or whom to contact

GuruHTKL9-How long ago did you purchase it ? Did you ask for the history report when you purchased it ?
Seriously, if someone do your and on cargurs and ccontected you privately... You still have to pay for the service..... Even if someone do a sign in your yard. You pay for advertising, it's a fair fee. Once the vin number is transferred and registered. They now it has a new owner... You should include the price of the vehicle to include marketing
