Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

When buyer is ready to pickup your
car and you do not want to meet at
your private residence, how do you
meet at a mutual location when the
car is not registered yet.

If your car is not legal to drive you need to take care of that issue. I would meet in front of a police station or in a grocery store parking lot.

I think the question is, the sale has already gone through. The buyer has gone through CarGurus and registered the car. Obviously the car is no longer registered in the sellers name and therefore cannot be driven. I still don’t think it’s a good idea for the buyer to come to your private residence. No?

You cannot have a car registered in to different names at the same time. If you take the sold car off the road so the seller can register the car in their name, the sold car cannot move until the new plates are placed on the car.
