1982 Chevy e10 with a 305 big block

I'm having a problem with my 1982 Chevy C10 where it
keeps cutting out when I hit the throttle like it cuts out it
goes if you rev it up and it'll cut out again I'm also having
another problem where it's backfiring really bad at high
RPM mainly in second gear I think I've done knew it is
putting summit racing ignition box on it please help I have
no idea what's wrong

Your timing is off. A 305 is a small block.

Try replacing the fuel filter, cheapest thing. If that does not work,... the catalytic convertor might be plugged. I don't what sort of modifications you performed, on this engine/vehicle, but if is stock, I would start there.

Thanks for the help I will try it also just out of curiosity I'm also having an issue where my fuel gauge is pegging out past full every time don't have a break in the wires but I am wondering if my sending unit is bad is that a possibility
