Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a new 2019 Santa Fe. I was
wondering about oil changes. I'm used to
the old 3000 mile rule but according to
the owners manual.. 15,000 miles????

I would not use the 15,000 mile interval if you care about your car. If this were my car I would change it every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil and use a filter with synthetic media (which filters better). Compare oil change costs to a new engine or car!

I would not go more than 10k using fully synthetic oil. One thing to consider is the warranty, Hyundai has the 100k or 10 year for original owner 50% if not the original owner. I would let them do the oil changes so it's in their system and don't give you a hard time with warranty if something happens to the engine.

All you have to do is keep the oil change receipts. Any oil shop that uses the correct oil will do.
