how reliable is diesel engine and transmission

want to buy a 2007 with diesel engine but need to find out more

Diesel engines are great especially in trucks but idk what kind of vehicle your buying because I know some German cars are diesel so I don't know about those but ford f series trucks are built to last because of their Diesel engines. So I would go for a diesel powered engine and there good on long trips because diesel burns slower, so less stops at the fuel pump but a higher price.
