there is a part in the steering column that is notorious for breaking so when you go to start it wont do anything
Ford conveniently puts the starter solenoid on the fender wall under the hood- check the usual suspects on a truck that old-

Starter solenoid is where I'd start. IF you don't need it now, you will in time.
