2000 Cougar - is there a sensor to shut off power to cigarette lighter when it gets hot and is ejected

you unplug it and plug it in again and it works, stays on long as it takes to heat the lighter that is why I thought there might be a sensor or something
I'm sure it is safe to assume that when you plug it in again that the fuse is still good. It is like something stops sending power to it to shut the sirius radio off ????
It is as if there is something to stop the power going to it after a short period of time - it is acting like the lighter is hot and stopping the power to eject it - like it is on a timer
No timer that I aware of. Try plugging in something else to see if it does the same thing. Might be an auto off feature on your inverter. Have you tried it with car running. Might be to low of voltage when car is off and inverter turning itself off. Just a thought.
