My Young son and I own an 89 xjs collector
Well, I have owned two of em... but once this one's gone, I'm afraid that will be it for me (else my marriage may be irrevocably jeopardized!) After all, as I'm reminded constantly, it's only a car, right?!?
I also have a 1988 XJS that was given to me. It sat up for 3 years and rats had made a home in the engine compartment, they chewed up most of the spark plug wires. This car ran before the rats got to it. In November, I started process of bringing this marvelous work of genius back to life. I replaced Spark plug wires, distributor cap, ignition pickup (also chewed by rats). i got it running and was test driving for about a month and found that I needed a water pump, alternator, smog pump and belt, which I in the middle of doing at the time of this writing. I will be picking up a new alternator this week and will be out and cruising this weekend. BTW I am saving Thousands by doing all the work myself. This XJS is really nice. Only 111K miles runs sweet and swift.

Wonderful work you are doing. keep it up . I love the XJS regardless of the year. The 18" aftermarket wheels with high performance tires shown in my 1996 XJS photo of 6 months ago are for sale. I went back to standard 16" OEM size wheels and regular tires for a better "ride". An old fellow like myself looks for the "ride" not "high speed performance".
