Sitting and going dead indicates a parasitic load. Running and going dead indicates no charge. Having main fuses burnt or connection issues can lead to a dead battery. Take your new battery to be charged and checked, take your alternator with to be bench tested. Or call AAA and take the whole system to be corrected. You could correct fuses and connections and jump start it yourself, but using the alternator to charge the battery through connections that have excessive resistance could be the cause and a repeat. This will overheat the slip rings and burn up the brushes fast in an otherwise good alternator. It is cheaper to buy your own battery charger than to burn up alternators repeatedly. Say what you are finding as you progress.

Buy the toyota highlander alternator its a bigger 135amp compared to the stock 85 amp your car is not charging the battery enough to cover the amount of pull from all the eletrical in it.
