Question type: General

This is under a 1988 Lincoln between the driveshaft and Transmission. I'm not
sure what model Lincoln because the body on it now is from a 1941 Lincoln

Take a photo from the other side, like inline with the driveshaft from the rear.

it doesnt look like it, from the other photo there is a bracket on the back of it.

I wonder if it is some sort of carrier bearing. Pretty sure it was not on a Factory Lincoln, but when I get to work I'll take a look in the parts catalog.

I've watched several videos of 1988 Lincolns where they show the undercarriage, the part is there...Thanks for checking!

Found it, sorry about forgetting to look it up. It is a weight that hangs off of the back of the transmission to dampen vibrations. Ford calls it a damper. Vehicle will operate fine without it, but it may or may not have some odd vibrations.

The picture is in a pdf and I have not been able to copy and paste it here. Let me do some tinkering and see if I can convert it into a jpg file to post it here, If you could post an e-mail, I can send it directly to you from the SnapOn EPC.
