they have one. but it's made by another tuning company called Alpina. they also made a modified version of the Z8. The modified 7 series is called the B7. it costs around 110,000$ and it has a 4.4L V8, 32 valves, 500 hp @ 5500 rpm engine.

The car you want is the Alpina B7 http://autos.aol.com/cars-BMW-ALPINA+B7-2012/expert-review/

Mercedes has AMG; but BMW has both M division AND Aplina... here's the official site for the Alpina B7 http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2012/7/AlpinaB7/Default.aspx in case you have $55k or $140k to spare, here's an 08' and a 12': 2008 Alpina B7 - http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=73797969 2012 Alpina B7 - http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=73369569

You can't really say a Alpina B7 is what a BMW M7 would look like... Alpina is way different to BMW... It's like saying Porsche und Ruf are alike, which is totally nosense, because in Ruf's case they modify or change about 95% of the Porsche manufactored parts... And I also think that BMW wants potential M7 buyers to buy a small Rolls Royce ( fyi. which is part of the BMW-Group) so they don't even bother to make a M7. But thats just a hypothesis.

Alpina B7 is nice, one parks by my sons old school at a doctors office. Sounds incredible. That new M5 is crazy fast, but if you are going to buy a krautomatic with that much money, get a cool one like the AMG hammer: http://automotiveviews.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/mercedes-benz-300-ce-amg_.jpg I by far prefer BMW, but automatics & the new style headlights / fascia leave a lot to be desired...

Yep my wife has a W124 Merc as well....that's an old AMG model Sean, but yes I agree it still looks good! B7 is my ultimate car choice, I love the grill, headlights etc no probs for me. The only issue I have is between 2012 M5 or B7- B7 is not available in Australia...so I guess I will just have to be the M5...I still can't believe the sound of that turbo whine when the engine note changed in the Utube...sounded like it wanted to take off! Wonder what a 7 would be like with the M5 4.4 twin turbo tucked under the bonnet?

In Germany you can also get a Lorincser BMW. This is a Company like Alpina, or AMG that does modifications on the car and has been accepted by BMW. It is worth taking a look. If you & series is manufactured in Germany, it can always be super up by this group. Now thinking about it, there is also Harmann (Hartge) they also do a fantastic job, and I believe they are Certified by BMW. I have had a BMW since I have a license, and have had MB, and Audi, and just about every other type of car on the market. BMW is the ultimate driving machine, and despite what many say or think, the proof is in the pudding when the German Government, and many others use BMW as police cars. Feel free to ask should you need any help! JPS

Good question. Though as mentioned there are outside tuning companies like Alpina and Brabus. But they are not a "in house" or manufacturer factory department like the M division or AMG. It would be like back in the 90s when Mercedes worked with Porsche to make the 500E. Before AMG became a performance department of Mercedes. But that still doesn't answer your question. Since BMW makes 3 and 5 series MPowered versions there's probably a good reason why they don't want to market a larger luxury model as such.
